For bathrooms, Vietnam is not an emerging option — it is already ASEAN's number-one sanitary-ware producer, and the reason is telling: the world's biggest bathroom brands build here.

Production capacity

Vietnam supplies roughly half of ASEAN's total sanitary-ware output. The domestic anchor, Viglacera, runs about 2 million units/year of sanitary capacity. Just as important, global majors manufacture locally: TOTO recently opened a US$67.7 million faucet factory in Vĩnh Phúc with capacity around 1.2 million products/year, on a 10-hectare site — a signal of long-term confidence in Vietnamese production.

Top manufacturers

The field is unusually strong for a single country:

  • Viglacera — the domestic leader, top-30 globally in sanitary ware.
  • TOTO Vietnam and LIXIL/INAX — Japanese majors producing brand-grade ceramics and fittings locally.
  • Caesar, Thiên Thanh, and others across the ceramic clusters.

That mix means a project buyer can source brand-audited quality and value-tier volume from the same country.

Export data (recent)

  • Ceramic goods (which include sanitary ware): ~US$674 million exported in 2024, up ~9% YoY.
  • Top destinations: United States, Japan, Taiwan, UK, France and Australia — the US is the single largest market (well over US$180 million).

What it means for project buyers

The upside is quality access; the discipline is specification. Two toilets that look identical can differ on glaze grade, flush performance (MaP score), trapway glazing, and water efficiency (WaterSense/EPA, or EU/AU equivalents). For US and Australian projects those ratings are mandatory — get the test certificate up front, and confirm the rough-in dimension before you order a container.
