"Who are the biggest tile makers in Vietnam?" is one of the most common questions a foreign buyer asks, and it is one of the few Vietnamese material sectors where the question can be answered with published numbers rather than sales talk. Vietnam has become Southeast Asia's largest tile producer, and its leaders are large enough — several of them listed — to compare on the record.
How this list was put together
Two rules, so you know what you are reading:
- Public evidence only. Companies are included on published capacity, reported revenue, listed-company disclosure or third-party industry ranking — not on our opinion of them.
- This is a market landscape, not our supplier list. We do not disclose which factories we contract with, for the same reason we do not name sub-tier producers during quoting. Nothing below should be read as an endorsement, a recommendation, or a statement that we do or do not work with a company.
The five
1. Viglacera Corporation — the scale leader. Viglacera manufactures over 35 million m² of porcelain and ceramic tile a year and led the sector on 2024 revenue at roughly VND 11.9 trillion. It is a listed, diversified building-materials group — which for a buyer means audited accounts and a public paper trail, the easiest kind of counterparty to verify.
2. Prime Group — the volume export name. Prime has been ranked among the world's largest tile producers by World Ceramics, and a single Prime plant runs eight production lines at about 24 million m² a year. Scale of this kind matters most when you need a large, consistent run of one SKU across a long project programme.
3. Dong Tam Group — the long-established domestic brand. One of the three names that consistently appears alongside Viglacera and Prime in sector coverage, with a deep domestic distribution position as well as export lines.
4. Catalan Corporation — mid-large, granite-tile focused. Operating at roughly 25 million m² a year of capacity, Catalan sits just behind the top tier on volume while competing hard on porcelain and granite tile.
5. Taicera Enterprise — the foreign-invested producer. A Taiwanese-invested manufacturer producing in Vietnam, and a reminder that a meaningful share of Vietnamese tile capacity is foreign-invested — which often comes with export-market habits already in place.
What a "top 5" list does not tell you
Here is the part most listicles leave out, and it is the part that decides whether your order goes well.
Biggest is not the same as right. The largest producers are optimised for volume runs. If your project needs 900 m² of a rectified large-format in a specific finish, a mid-size plant will often quote better, respond faster and care more about your order than a group running eight lines for national distributors.
Capacity is not availability. Vietnam's tile sector currently carries substantial spare capacity — the industry's total capacity runs well ahead of production, and 2025 saw exports soften into a high energy-cost year. That surplus is genuine buyer leverage, but it is distributed unevenly: the leaders are the least likely to discount. Our note on why the tiles went quiet covers the market backdrop.
A name is not a verification. Being large does not exempt a supplier from the checks that matter — real production floor, verified certificates, an origin file that holds up. The single most common Vietnam sourcing failure is a trading company presenting itself as a factory, and it happens under famous brand names too. Our factory verification guide is the checklist.
Check the standard, not the reputation. For tile that means ISO 13006 / EN 14411 classification, water absorption for the BIa porcelain class, and slip resistance to the standard your market uses — DCOF (ANSI A326.3) for the US, the pendulum test for the UK, AS 4586 P-ratings for Australia. Our regional compliance briefs set out what each market asks for.
Sources & data notes
Vietnam's position as Southeast Asia's largest tile producer, Viglacera's 35+ million m² annual output and approximately VND 11.9 trillion 2024 revenue, Prime Group's World Ceramics ranking and ~24 million m²/year plant with eight lines, and Catalan's ~25 million m²/year capacity are drawn from 2024–2026 industry and trade reporting. Company figures change with expansion, closure and restructuring; rankings differ between sources depending on whether they measure capacity, output or revenue. Figures are indicative and for orientation only — verify current capacity, certification and export status directly with any company before relying on it. Inclusion is not an endorsement and does not indicate a commercial relationship with Make in Vietnam or VITD.
